I would like to personally discuss a position on our Site Advisory Board with you.
We're looking for a cross-section of creative and marketing professionals to serve on our Site Advisory Board. Former execs at Apple and Microsoft will be launching the world's largest creative community. I came across your company online and was impressed enough that I decided to reach out to you.
The site is not available to the public, but you may view and sign in here.
After you have had a chance to review, please email me.
Regards,
Bruce

I didn't respond because it seemed odd (in particular the name dropping). Instead I searched the web and found only records that Mr. Lazarus himself posted. No third party review. I did however find a forum discussing the very same email and asking the same questions. But there too was no answers. You can read more at: http://www.gfxartist.com/community/forum/158976 Today I received another e-mail
Anne,Now, the website itself is art-related so it may well be a serious proposal. At this point I'm hoping to connect with other artists (or non-artists) who may have gotten the same message so that we may find out what's behind it all.
I noticed you haven't signed in yet. The first step to being on the advisory board is view and sign in here.
After you sign in, let me know what you think of the site. Are you interested in the opportunity to join the advisory board?
Regards,
Bruce

I got that too and dug a little deeper. From what I've learned, it seems they are a handful of ambitious, but clueless old guys just trying to get their community membership numbers up so they can convince investors do drop some $ on them.
The site itself is just a template they customized, and the invitation to become a 'Site Advisory Board' member has been sent to anyone they can find with an on-line portfolio and an e-mail address.
Evidently, they are still doing some promotion of the website with the advisory board invitation to Jamuse and MuseWorx. I found a "follow-up" email in my Spam folder today:
"...I noticed you did not respond to the recomendation that I sent to you a couple weeks back. Hope things are well.
I've created a Jamuse MuseWorx account for you, no charge. You will be able to:
Showcase your Talent Manage your Digital Assets Send Large Files Use an awesome Collaboration tool with Clients and much more."
"At no charge." **What?!?** I didn't ask to join, so why should I be charged?
In any case, I don't believe that I know anyone, artist or otherwise, that is currently affiliated with them. I did a quick google and found your blog. :)
